For most people, Saturday is probably one of their favorite days of the week. Not for me. Charlie works on Saturdays and even though he has for the past 6 years I always seem to have a hard time on Saturdays. All my girlfriends have their husbands home and are enjoying family time or girlfriend time while its just another day for me and the kids. Its pretty normal for me to miss out on fun things they plan because I don't have Charlie home to watch the kids. It is also a bummer when Charlie misses out on stuff too. I've found that if I plan a whole day of activities we usually have a pretty good day but if I just stay home I start feeling pretty down and stir crazy and take it out on Charlie and the kids. Not good at all. Unfortunately we have had to cut back on the budget the last couple months plus we've been sick so I haven't had too many good Saturdays in a long time. Its been a hard few months thats for sure. But I am determined to turn that around. This last Saturday was the best I've had a in awhile. I hope I can keep it going!

How can you not have a good day starting out with silly faces at breakfast. Love this goofy guy! |
We started off our day of fun by joining some friends at Lowes Build and Grow. How did I not know about this? A free building workshop offered twice a month complete with aprons and badges the kids earn each time they attend. The boys got to put together their own race car complete with stickers and sound effects. Brendan was really into the goggles and mini hammer. With minimal supervision they whipped their cars into shape in no time while Ethan hung out in the stroller and caught up with his buddy. We will definitely do this again! Sure wish Charlie could take them. But we took some pictures to share with him and they were so proud to show him their finished product.

We headed back home for lunch and a nap for Ethan. Time to refresh and reenergize for the rest of our fun day. Once Ethan was up and fed we headed out to meet a friend and her daughter at a local kid play space/coffee shop. I wasn't sure how Ethan would do and started him out in the free baby play area but he quickly got tired of that and so I tried him out in the main area and he had a blast! I was a little worried with all the big kids but kept a close eye on him. He really loved the castle play structure and quickly figured out how to climb up the stairs and slide down the slide backwards. We stayed for their weekly movie night and got some dinner while we watched Lady and the Tramp. Once dinner was scarfed down it was back to playing until closing time.
