The Big 3-0!

I know most people dread turning 30. I still don't believe that I'm 30! I don't feel like it so I guess thats a good thing :) I really enjoyed my birthday this year and look forward to all the things that will happen this year! 30 is going to be incredible!

I always feel awkward around my birthday. On one hand I don't want to plan my own party or bug people to remember my birthday but on the other hand I am pretty bummed when people don't remember. I'm not a gift person...not my love language at all....but just a simple greeting on my birthday can really speak to my heart. I'm pretty simple :) I felt the same way this year. All week I was hoping that my friends would mention my birthday coming up, maybe ask if I wanted to do something but no one did. My mom invited us over for our traditional birthday dinner and I was excited about that. But I had no other plans and up until my birthday only one of my friends had even remembered it was coming up. We lightly made plans for another night after my birthday and I didn't think much about it after that. 

I didn't get to sleep in like I usually love to do on my birthday every year but my awesome hubby took Carter and Ethan away for a few hours and told me to relax and watch Downton Abbey while they were gone. No packing and no cleaning allowed. I obediently obliged :) and quite enjoyed myself. A dear friend also dropped by with yummy coffee and sweet gifts! What a fun morning! 

Dinner at my mom's was pretty straight forward. Super yummy food (Tacos!) and my favorite Caramel Cake for dessert. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary except my mom took a long time to "find" the lighter for the candles. 

Just as I was enjoying my first bites of that delicious buttery cake SURPRISE!!! Several of my closest girlfriends showed up at my mom's house! WHAT?? I was shocked! I had no clue they were scheming this behind my back. I felt so loved and blessed! Not only did they show up at my moms but they were taking me away for a fun night of bowling. 

Seriously so much fun! Love these women and so overwhelmed by their love and friendship! 

I couldn't have asked for a better birthday. It was perfect from beginning to end!
