Adventure in NICU Day One

The next 2 weeks were a blur and I'm going to try to go day by day so I will remember and also to share with those few that read what we went through during Ethan's first couple weeks of life.

After a long day welcoming Ethan to the world it was nice to finally get some rest. Not having him in the room was a small blessing in disguise. As much as I wanted my little bundle nearby it was nice to get a full nights sleep. I recovered pretty quickly from my C-section and was up walking around the next morning with no problems. I was so motivated to get better quickly so I could spend more time in Ethan's room. They had me start pumping so that my milk supply wouldn't be affected. I got to go visit him every couple hours to deliver the milk and say hi. There wasn't much for me to do in there and I was still in a bit of pain and discomfort so I really needed to rest myself. It was so hard not to be by his side every minute but I knew he was in good hands. They took his breathing CPAP off but were concerned about possible infection and low blood sugar. The dr. told us it was normal for a small baby and should clear up on its own in a few days.

Brendan got to come visit his newest brother in the afternoon. Carter had a bad cold so we didn't want his germs near Ethan. Brendan was very excited.
