Christmas Tree Hunt

One of our most anticipated traditions at Christmas is picking out the perfect tree. I always grew up going to a u-cut farm and cutting down our own tree. Its one of the perks of living in the PNW!

I had a few friends start putting up trees and decorations before Thanksgiving and as the days went by in December we (the boys) were getting pretty anxious to get our own tree. Finally a dry weekend arrived and we headed out on our search. We went to our favorite tree farm and were excited to find out they were handing out special coupons worth $10-30 off your tree purchase. We opened our envelope and were happy to see $10 off! Any little bit helps! We knew that it would be tight to find a tree at this farm in our budget and had already told the boys that if they were too expensive we'd have to go to a cheap tree lot near our house.

After enjoying the petting zoo and playing around in the trees the boys wanted to ride the hayride around before getting serious and picking out a tree. Little did we know that this hayride would change the course of our tree hunt and make us feel so awed by the blessing of God. While bouncing along the farm the woman sitting next to Charlie asked him if we wanted their coupon. They weren't going to buy a tree that day and were just there for the petting zoo/hayride experience. He said sure and she handed him her coupon....for $30 off!! what??!?!? Total blessing indeed! After the hayride we found a great tree for $32. After tax and paying for the shake and bale it ended up being $8. So exciting!

The boys and I warmed up in the barn with hot cocoa while Charlie got the tree on the car and we were good to go!

This was definitely a trip to remember and we thanked God all the way home!
