Fall Photos

After 100 days of straight sunshine and no rain, we were hit with a few weeks of nonstop rain. At first I was really bummed that we didn't try to get some family photos while we had the chance. Charlie got really busy with several photoshoots in October which was awesome but we forgot to do our own! Thankfully we had a few days of sunshine return to us and because the trees had taken so long to change due to the warmer weather we knew we'd get some with the beautiful fall colors.

Family photos with 3 highly energetic boys can be a bit stressful. The past few years have been tough and photoshoots usually end with lots of tears and frustration. We usually get a good picture but it takes a few days to get over the stressful event. The kids do a lot better for other people but so far we haven't wanted to pay someone else to do what Charlie can do for free. So we push through and try many different methods of persuading the kids to smile and enjoy the session. They are getting better though, especially Brendan. I think he is finally figuring out that the quicker he smiles and listens, the quicker we are done. And Carter and Ethan usually follow Brendan so if we can get him to cooperate, we are on the road to success!

The other day was beautiful and I knew that the weather wouldn't stay that way long so I asked Charlie to find a nice photo spot close by. He drove around our house and found a nice little yard with some small trees and leaves. Then he noticed that it was the house of some of our friends parents. So he got permission to shoot and came home with the good news! I scrambled to put together some outfits, resisting the strong urge to go to the mall and buy all new matching clothes for everyone, and was pretty happy with what I came up with. I'm trying to let go of the matchy-matchy side of me. It was so fun when they were little to match them but as they grow I'm finding it harder. So I'm trying to let that go. Once Brendan was off the bus we got dressed and headed out. A buddy of Charlie's was hanging out so he came along and was very helpful!

We all kept calm and patient and we are really happy with the photos we got. Charlie has such talent and I'm so thankful that he puts up with my slight obsession with nice family photos. Now...enjoy the pictures!

Thanks for looking! Now I have to find the perfect Christmas card to use them in. So much fun!
