Well, we complain about the rain all spring and then when the summer finally arrives what do North Westerners do?? we complain again! Well, instead of complaining about it being so hot here (90-100) Charlie and I decided to take a quick Sunday trip to the coast. We checked the weather and saw that it was a cool 75 there and thought that sounded heavenly. So we packed up the boys and a picnic lunch and off we went. On the way we had to stop at Camp 18 which is a restaurant on the way to the coast. We didn't stop for the food but instead wanted to let Brendan check out the cool old trains and construction equipment they have in the parking lot. He loved it! After stretching our legs we got back in the car and continued to the beach. The drive was beautiful and relaxing. Brendan woke up that morning at 5 am with a coughing fit (more on that later) so he was pretty tired and took a nap while Charlie and I chatted in peace. We got to the beach but it was packed! We ended up eating our lunch in the car and then walking quite a distance to the beach. It was a lot cooler than we expected so I stayed back with Carter while Charlie took Brendan right out to the water. It was ICE cold so he brought Brendan back to play in the warm sand. We enjoyed the sun and Brendan had a blast in the sand. Before heading home we got some yummy ice cream cones and walked the boardwalk with all the shops. Brendan took another great nap on the way home and so did Mommy. What a fantastic family day we had!
